Greater Hartford (mini) Maker Faire Saturday October 7th in Farmington, CT

NESIT will be showcasing at the Greater Hartford Mini Maker Faire in Farmington, CT this coming Saturday (that’s October 7th, 2017). Come down and see what we’ve been working on.

We’ll be bringing back Kevin’s popular leatherworking and tooling workshop from last year. We’ll also have an entire table devoted to showcasing 3D printers along with an iTopie live build! Watch in real-time as we fail (or succeed?) at assembling a 3D printer from a host of possibly correct spare parts.

Tickets are free and can be acquired through the fair’s Event Brite page.

Leatherworking on Wednesday the 11th 2017 at NESIT Makerspace in Meriden

Kevin was going over the art of leather working on Wednesday at NESIT. Tooling and died patches of leather are useful in a variety of crafts.

Case in point. If you look close at those patches you’ll see Playstation buttons tooled into them. We’re not sure what he’s doing here; possibly designing a giant Playstation controller?

Tanned Leatherworking Workshop October 19th

Join us at NESIT on October 19th from 7:00-10:00 PM for an introduction to the world of leather crafting. The workshop’s focus will be on learning how to hand tool designs on plain vegetable tanned leather which can be tooled and dyed, stained, or painted.

Once this skill is learned it can be used to make a large range of projects such as wallets, purses, belts, bolsters, and notebook covers. Tools and a practice piece of leather will be supplied for the lesson at no charge.

This instructional workshop will be lead by Kevin of Solofalcon Leather. Stop by NESIT Makerspace and learn how to create objects of art out of leather.
