Wednesday Open House for February 22nd, 2017

Get together at NESIT and build things! NESIT Makerspace in Meriden Connecticut is having another open house on Wednesday.

Work is going along nicely on the clean-room for classes with all of the molding up, base, case, foot, and toe. Next up is gap-filling and painting everything for a seamless look.

And the Onion Omega 2 will be making it’s way to our IoT electronics drawer. Please toss it on a breadboard and see what you can make it do.

Wednesday Open House for February 1st, 2017

Why not stop by your local Meriden Makerspace, NESIT, this Wednesday? If you’ve ever wanted to create a visual aid for how a car works you can create something like this working differential. Or maybe even a working model of a Toyota 22RE Engine!

Come on down to check out the new tools and collaborate or just pass some time with like minded individuals. And check back here on the website in a few days for video of NESIT’s drawer-slide CNC. It was a scratch build by Rich with (mostly) found parts from the Makerspace!

Maker Monday Open House for Dec 18, 2016

Maker Monday is rolling around at NESIT Makerspace again this week. Why not stop by and use one of the 3D printers to spread some holiday cheer?

In time for the impending holiday Thingiverse user bqLabs has created some cute articulated Christmas figurines of notable reindeers, chubby toy distributors, and short small run production workers. Grab the STLs and make one of your own!

Why not stop by NESIT this Monday and collaborate on a project?

For instance: you could make your own PCB workstation designed by Giufini on Thingiverse on one of the 3D printers. Then solder yourself together a NESIT.org ATTiny controller with it and use that to fuel your own embedded electronics!

If you’ve got a MeetUp account please sign in on our MeetUp event.

Maker Monday Open House

Come on down and join NESIT for our Maker Monday open house. Hours generally run between 6:30/7:00 PM to around 10PM or whenever people filter out for the evening. Please sign up on MeetUp if you have an account.

One of the things you could be creating (in the future)? The Maslow (video) recently announced as a Kickstarter. Maslow is a 4×8 CNC for cutting full sheets of material on the cheap with nothing more than a Ridgid R2200 router with base, two bricks, and a few 2×4 studs. The folks behind it have released their designs and are fundraising to produce and ship prototype kits to send out.

Barnes & Noble Mini Maker Faire Nov. 5th, 6th

Couldn’t make it out to the Greater Hartford area Maker Faire back in October? If you’ve got a Barnes & Noble bookstore somewhere near you they’re hosting a smaller version of the Maker Faire in every one of their locations!

NESIT’s own Katie Jackson will be at the West Hartford Center Barnes & Noble running a wood-working workshop. Please check back if you would like the specific time and date.

These events include a smaller number of your local makers and organizations along with B&N hosted content. There’s a website set up for the Barnes & Noble Mini Maker Faire if you’d like to check if your there’s an event near you.
